    VINdata.io for auto recyclers

Know the donor car. Document the recovered parts.

Start each dismantling job with VIN-linked factory configuration. Give intake, dismantling and sales teams the same source records — alongside the component numbers, photos and checks you make on the actual car.

From donor intake to parts enquiry

A model badge is not a component reference.

    • Similar-looking donor cars can have different engines, transmissions and factory option codes.
    • The dismantling team needs a useful build reference before labelling and storing recovered components.
    • A buyer asks about a specific version, but the advert only identifies the donor by a broad model name.
    • Factory records, actual component markings and condition checks must stay separate and traceable.

Factory context throughout the dismantling workflow

    Document donor intake

Attach available identity, body and drivetrain records to the donor VIN when it arrives. Keep your own stock number, mileage, acquisition documents and photos alongside them.

    Prepare the dismantling job

Review original option descriptions before checking lighting, interior and electronic components. Use them to guide questions, not to declare that a component is present or safe to remove.

    Distinguish component variants

Use engine, gearbox and factory option records as supporting context when researching a version in an OEM parts catalogue. Read the number on the recovered component; VINdata does not provide interchange or fitment certification.

    Enrich used-parts listings

Add clearly labelled donor-vehicle factory records to listings. Publish your own component reference, photographs and tested condition separately; a donor build list is not a guarantee that a part fits the buyer’s car.

    Answer buyer enquiries

Give sales staff the same donor records as the workshop. Share the original description when a buyer asks about a gearbox or interior version, and request recipient-vehicle details for your normal compatibility checks.

    Connect stock records

Use approved API access to bring VIN records into your donor inventory or discuss a tailored VIN-list arrangement. Your team controls stock mapping and review; no ready-made dismantling-system connector is included.

Descriptions above are original source records in English. They are not AI-generated equipment flags. Factory lists can include technical entries, duplicates and explicit exclusions; coverage and detail vary by manufacturer and VIN.

Missing is not the same as absent

“Without trailer hitch” is an explicit factory record. An option that is simply missing from the response remains unknown. Neither case confirms the current vehicle’s configuration without inspection.

    AI & integrations

A shared reference for the yard and the sales desk

Try representative donor VINs first. Check how the returned records fit your stock process before connecting your inventory software or using an MCP assistant.

    MCP for AI assistants

Connect a compatible assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT to https://mcp.vindata.io/api/public/mcp using your approved API key. Retrieve and organise the returned factory records for human review. Do not infer missing equipment, guess a model or replace a physical inspection.

Donor data, not a parts compatibility guarantee

Factory records do not identify every recovered part, prove compatibility, certify component condition or determine reuse safety. VINdata is not an OEM parts catalogue, interchange database, dismantling instruction or high-voltage safety procedure. Use physical checks, component numbers and appropriate manufacturer guidance.

    Plans for auto recyclers

Start with individual donor checks on the website. For inventory integration and larger VIN lists, discuss API volume or an enterprise agreement. Website bulk lookup is not available to ordinary accounts.

    Frequently asked questions

Can the report tell us whether a recovered part fits another car?

No. It provides donor-vehicle factory context. Confirm the actual component number, applicable OEM references and recipient vehicle using your usual compatibility process.

Does it provide OE part numbers or dismantling instructions?

No. The report contains available vehicle specifications and raw factory option records, not a complete parts catalogue, interchange list or removal procedure.

Can we include the data in our stock software?

Approved API access can support your own integration. Test representative donor VINs and agree the fields and volume with us. Your developers build and maintain the connection.

Does a factory option prove the part is still on the donor?

No. A car may have been modified or stripped. Verify the actual vehicle and component. A missing record remains unknown rather than meaning the part is absent.

How can we test coverage for our vehicles?

Apply for API access and test representative VINs from the makes, ages and markets you work with. Free accounts receive three successful API trial calls in total, shared across keys, with no monthly reset or expiry date. Contact support@vindata.io if your evaluation needs a larger agreed sample.
